  • Introduction to Organizational Behavior Management

    Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) is a sub-discipline of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). In OBM, the principles of behavior are used to identify areas of improvement that will produce the largest positive impact on the organization and focuses on planning and managing the variables that support desired performance.

  • Introduction to Systems Analysis

    Learn how systems work, how to identify systems breakdowns and inefficiencies, and how to identify the systems in your specific setting. Systems Analysis and Intervention identifies areas of improvement that will produce the largest positive impact on the organization and focuses on planning and managing the variables that support desired performance.

  • Ethics and Ethical Behavior

    Learn how ethics and ethical behavior are embedded in the culture of the organization you work for/with. OBM focuses on the organization and employee performance. The individual employees within the organization and the organization itself are responsible to uphold our ethics.

  • Interprofessional Collaboration

    Learn how interprofessional collaboration impacts your work and place of business. Interprofessional collaboration is essential when you are a BCBA and when/if you move into more managerial roles. It is critical to model and promote interprofessionalism for your staff/team to ensure an inclusive culture.

Micro Level Module Descriptions

  • Introduction to Pinpointing

    Pinpointing facilitates supervisor and employee understanding of performance, delivery of feedback and reinforcement for meeting goals, and the implementation of change related to performance issues. Evaluating the effects of these change efforts is valuable to both employee and organizational success.

  • Service Delivery

    In OBM, services assess the work environment and involves systems analyses, management, training, and performance improvement. Learn how to effectively use functional assessments to pinpoint targets for performance improvement.

  • Consent and Assent

    Consent and assent are critical to service delivery. It requires action on the part of the behavior analyst. Learn how these micro level behaviors are pinpoints that can drastically effect organizational metrics and quality indicators.

  • Confidentiality

    Another essential pinpoint to ensure ethical service provisions. From an OBM standpoint, confidentiality comes back to employee performance. Learn how to effectively navigate dilemmas where confidentiality may be an issue.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • State how to assess the micro and macro level of the organization in which they work.

  • Describe how ethics and collaboration impact the system.

  • Give examples of how assent, confidentiality, and service delivery affect the organizational as a whole.

  • Create an employee reinforcer assessment.

  • Rank their own top 5-10 reinforcers.

  • Develop 2-3 professional and/or personal pinpoints.

  • Generate an antecedent strategy for each pinpoint.

Christen Russell

As the founder and Executive Director of Affecting Behavior Change, LLC., I created ABC from my passion and commitment to education, diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging, ethical behavior and decision-making, behavior analysis, and continual personal and professional growth. I take a lifelong learner approach to systematically fill the gaps in areas of continuing education, professional development, and research. As an ACE coordinator, I have created over 40 continuing education events. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, my clinical experience focuses on quality assurance, compliance, clinical support, business development and growth. I also work closely with leadership and management divisions on compliance, training and delivery of sound, ethical and effective behavioral supports to achieve client goals. I have established and assisted with the startup, and/or growth and development of four agencies providing ABA services. I have consulted with health care agencies, providing services to 100s of staff, including BCBAs, BCaBAs, RBTs, executive, administrative, clinical and operations staff. I have provided consultation to teachers, parents, business owners and staff. I have my PhD in Applied Behavior Analysis from Endicott College. I have my Master of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis. With a focus on supervision, staffing, recruitment, training, strategic planning, and working in the field for over 20 years, I have a broad spectrum of clinical expertise.
